Aparthotels
An aparthotel is simply an apartment and hotel in one. The apartment differs from a hotel room in that it is equipped more like self-catering accommodation. This means you can prepare your own meals and have a more home from home experience. Many aparthotels also boast a concierge service and the apartments are serviced daily or weekly depending on your requirements.
Aparthotels are particularly suitable for business travellers, or those looking for an extended stay where eating out every night is not practical, cost effective or healthy.
The rise of the aparthotel is bridging the gap between the traditional hotel model and the B&B or self-catering cottage. Accommodation is becoming more fluid with choice and simplicity being demanded by the end user who requires a more relaxed approach to travel.
Facilities
A hotel often has a kettle, iron and hairdryer. The aparthotel has a fully equipped kitchen. Being used more for extended stays they will often have a living space and be more akin to a hotel suite.
A fridge and a cooker would be the bare minimum to expect in your kitchen.
Stay
You can generally expect more flexible check-ins and checkouts – some may have keyless entry systems too.
You would also be more likely to have to stay for a minimum of two nights. This is due to the extra workload with cleaning a full kitchen, more facilities and larger area to service.
Business
Most aparthotel rooms would be able to accommodate a business meeting. You can prepare coffee and be safe in the knowledge that you will not be interrupted for your important meeting.
Some aparthotels will offer to arrange your Dry cleaning and laundry too. Making extended business trips easier.
Locations
Aparthotels are popping up around the UK and are often in large city centers. Perfect for a long weekend sight seeing or a few days away on business.
Costs
Generally, aparthotels are used for small groups or solo travelers for more than a few days. Consequently, the price per night is reduced with medium to longer term bookings. Aparthotel rooms can usually accommodate 1 to 6 people. This means further savings on what would have been up to 6 hotel rooms.
